2025 All-Star Game tie settled with unique home run derby-style swing-off, featuring 3 Schwarber bombs
Pete Alonso of the Mets is Box-Toppers 2025 All-Star Game Player of the Game.
Alonso hit a sixth-inning, three-run homer, as the National League prevailed Tuesday over the American League, after a nine-inning, 6-6 tie was broken with a home run derby-style swing-off. Alonso went 1-for-2, scoring once and driving in three runs.
Alonso’s homer put the National League up 5-0, but the American League came back to tie the game in the ninth inning, 6-6. Rather than play extra innings, the game was decided by a home run derby-style contest in which three batters from each team were each given three swings to hit home runs. The three NL players hit four home runs to the AL’s three.
